where did he go?

I'm still here just busy. School is coming to a close for the semester, and I'm coming up with a story that I want to write. More to come...

TSA Agents

So there is a big uproar over the new procedures at airport security. People bitching about privacy and people bitching about being touched in places they don't want to be touched. While I don't agree with these new security measures I also know that they will not change it just because people are bitching about it or throwing fits about it in the airport. It's a long shot, just like everyone of my protest ideas, but how about just not flying? How about you stop buying airline tickets and just drive where you want to go? I know international flights are a necessity for some but really, what ever happened to a good ol' road trip across the country? But like I stated, a vast majority would rather spend the outrageous money on a plane ticket, knowing they will be required to be searched in an embarrassing way, and then bitch about it when they get to the checkpoint. After all these years people still don't get that actions speak louder than words.

Ice Bears sending mixed signals

Fast start to season fizzles quickly with three straight loses

Knoxville it’s hockey time! Your Knoxville Ice Bears have returned for the 2010-2011 season to once again set their sights on claiming the ultimate prize the SPHL’s Presidents Cup.  Only three times in the leagues 7 years have the Ice Bears not ended the season hoisting that cup above their heads. After a disappointing end to the season last year Knoxville is looking to fire on all cylinders and take back the silver trophy. After Marc Rodgers left the team and/or was released the Ice Bears went in search of a new head coach to lead them back to the finals. The head office brought back a fan favorite in Mike Craigen and handed the reigns over to him. The 2010 season opened at home for the Bears who were to battle a longtime rival, the Fayetteville Fire Antz. Many will remember that the regular season ended last year with these two teams having a bench clearing brawl and the game eventually being called due to Fayetteville no longer having enough players to continue. These two also matched up in the first round of the playoffs and had one of the longest three game series ever. Game two setting an SPHL record for longest game as it went to almost two complete overtime periods before Knoxville won. The pieces were all there for this game to be an entertaining one. There were more fights than goals for the first two periods as Jensen, Segal, Bulawka, and Hanson all threw down the gloves and relaxed for five minutes in the box. Fayetteville wasted no time in putting a point on the board when the third period started when former Ice Bear Craig Geerlinks tapped the puck into the net. Almost exactly a minute later Knoxville responded when Dallas Costanzo tied the game on a shorthanded goal. Bulawka was sent to the penalty box at 7:23 of the period for interference and the Ice Bears penalty kill was almost successful in fending off the Antz until Cody Zubko found an opening with a single second left on the Knoxville penalty. The Ice Bears were down 2-1 with time running out in the game and needed to respond quickly. When Fayetteville’s Jeffery Borrows was told to go sit for hooking it looked like Knoxville’s last chance to keep this game alive. With seconds left on the power play Knoxville managed to tie up the game 2-2 when Lorne Misita scored the Bears only power play goal of the evening. The final period of regulation ended and the game went to overtime. The crowd of 3,500 attendees was on their feet as the first game of the season was going into extra time. The five minute extra period saw plenty of missed opportunities for both teams but when Fayetteville failed to watch where former Fire Ant Emory Olauson was standing, it cost them the game. Olauson skated behind the defenseman and was left unchecked at the blue line as he received a long pass from Jensen. Emory was all by his self as he madly dashed toward the goalie. One top shelf goal later and Knoxville had won their first game of the regular season. The Ice Bears went to Augusta the next night and beat the new expansion team 5-3. The following Friday they played in Columbus and lost their first game of the season 3-2. Back again to Augusta for a 3-2 victory and Knoxville looked to be doing just fine. That was until they played Augusta again the next Thursday and were handed quite a beat down. While the Ice Bears were only able to score a single goal in each period, the RiverHawks took the liberty of scoring three in the first period, followed by five in the second and adding another goal in the third to destroy the Bears by a score of 9-3. The Hawks then showed that they still had Knoxville’s number by coming into the Ice Bears home and beating them for the second day in a row, a 3-2 win in overtime. It seemed that those back to back loses affected the team because Columbus came into town and walked out with a 5-1 victory leaving behind Knoxville’s first three game losing streak of the year. While new head coach Mike Craigen has assembled a great young team of players, the chemistry that is needed does not seem to be apparent just yet in these men. Hopefully the team will get it together soon or we may be looking at a long journey to the off season.

facebook and twitter

It has been two weeks since I have heard a peep from one of my "best friends." It has been two months since I have heard from another. It's been three months since I closed my facebook and twitter accounts. I stoped using those web services for a number of reasons. First, they were consuming my time. I would be constantly checking for updates on either site and it only got worse when I bought my droid. My work performance degraded. Second, I grew tired of everyone in the world finding me and trying to be my friend. I really want nothing to do with most, if not all, of my former high school classmates. They haven't been a part of my life for 12 years for a reason. Third, I grew bored with people getting pissed if I did not want to be their friend on facebook or follow them on twitter. People were getting offended because I did not want to be their friends on a website... that was pathetic. Finally, everyone expected you to know what was going on in their lives by reading their updates. No longer did a friend call you to tell you good news, they posted it and expected you to figure shit out that way. Why call your good friend to tell them something when you can let the world know, friend included. Facebook and twitter have quickly replaced personal, one-on-one relationships. I already have a small list of people I even like being around no matter my mood, these "services" have narrowed that down to almost none.
So fuck you twitter and facebook. Even though I know you will win, at least I know i'm on the side that won't trade humanity for superficial friendships.

stupid computer users

I'm pretty sure I hate stupid computer users. How hard is it to unplug and replug in a router? They make me want to punch them in the face.

early morning

It's 7:30 in the morning on this beaUtiful Wednesday... /radiodj

It is quiet in my living room except for the occasional asshole driving too fast down my road. I'm sure it is a bit brisk outside and my car windows are probably frozen over with that thin layer of ice that can drive you mad trying to remove in the dead of winter. I love this weather. Walk outside and no matter how tired you were, you are instantly awake. I'd probably keep my house frozen if it wasn't for a baby and a wife who detests the cold. Speech on Monday to give in class. Think I will make it on how to survive the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

Well, I am done here. Good day for now.

speech to text

This is an experiment my first attempt blogging with speech to text. If it turns out good I'll be doing more like this. This allows me to speak my mind and have it immediately wrote down.

PICTURES!

I was having way too much fun with long exposure times and a LED light that night.

Macro Lenses are the shit.

Sitting by the dock of the bay.

A new beginning.

I've done this before and I will probably do it again. Start a blog up and go strong for awhile only to get bored and stop updating. I'm hoping to make it different this time though as I don't plan on just doing a normal blog. I want to make this a tech blog, a photo blog, a ranting blog. I don't want this to be a stupid "blah, blah, blah, my life is like this" blog because being emo is just not my style anymore. (yes I unfortunately succumbed to the emoness a few years back, although it was more of the actual complaining and none of the shitty haircuts and girls jeans.) So, sit back, relax, grab a beer or shot of some kind of liquor and enjoy what I bring to you. I hope to make your day a bit more entertaining... because hell, as the title says, dropoutdoes.
